Dabi, Feb 24 (Prensa Latina) German female tennis player Julia Georges
assured her ticket for the finals of the Tennis Tournament of Dubai,
United Arab Emirates Friday, beating Danish Caroline Wozniacki -former
world number one- 7-6 (7/3) and 7-5 in 2 hours and 12 minutes.
Georges managed to win, and broke most of the competition predictions pointing at Wozniacki as the favourite.
This is the third victory for Georges against Wozniacki against two defeats.
The most important of Georges victories was on April 24, 2011 during
the dispute of the title for the Open Tournament of Stuttgart, Germany.
Georges, 23 years old and number 19 in the world ranking, got five aces
in the match against Wozniacki and saved 10 of the 15 break points
Wozniacki had.
Now Georges will match Polish contender Agnieszka
Radwanska, the winner against Serbian Jelena Jankovic 6-2, 2-6 and 6-0
in one hour and 43 minutes
The only match between Georges and
Radwanska was in the Australian Open last month, in which the Polich
athlete won by 6-0 and 6-0.
The tournament in Dubai distributes nearly 2 million dollars in prizes. |
